Job Title: Phlebotomist I Location: OK - Tulsa - 1245 South Utica Avenue Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM Assignment Duration: 3+ months (CONTRACT TO POSSIBLE) Position Summary We are seeking a Phlebotomist I to join a busy laboratory/Patient Service Center (PSC) team in Tulsa, OK. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing blood draws and specimen collection while ensuring accurate patient identification, specimen labeling, processing, and preparation for transport. The ideal candidate will have experience performing venipunctures on a diverse patient population, including pediatric through geriatric patients, and will be comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment. Key Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures safely and efficiently. Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles. Collect and handle specimens according to established laboratory procedures. Properly explain the venipuncture/specimen collection process to patients in a clear and courteous manner. Verify physician orders and ensure accurate patient identification. Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes. Accurately label specimens and verify all requisitions/computer labels for correctness. Centrifuge, split, freeze, and process specimens according to test requirements. Package specimens appropriately for transportation. Store specimens at the required temperature and in the appropriate collection containers. Follow specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during handling and transportation. Update patient information and maintain accurate documentation. Record equipment/maintenance data as required. Perform decontamination and maintain a clean and safe work area. Follow OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety regulations. Attend required department training and annual compliance training. Answer telephone calls and assist with laboratory-related inquiries as needed. Work effectively as part of a team and contribute to workflow improvements. Troubleshoot routine issues and make recommendations to improve workflow. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 6 months of hands-on venipuncture experience in a fast-paced laboratory, hospital, clinic, PSC, or similar healthcare environment. Phlebotomy certification where required by the state. Demonstrated ability to perform blood draws accurately and safely. Experience with specimen labeling, processing, and handling. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow laboratory procedures. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience drawing blood from pediatric and geriatric patients. Experience working with patients across a broad age range, from pediatric through geriatric. Previous experience in a Patient Service Center (PSC) or clinical laboratory. Strong communication and customer-service skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced team setting. Work Environment Full-time schedule, approximately 40 hours per week. No travel required. Team-oriented laboratory/Patient Service Center environment. Color vision screening is required. Flu and COVID vaccinations are optional per the hiring manager. No THC screening requirement indicated. Interview Process Onsite individual interview with the Hiring Manager. | |
