THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on supporting personal care, monitoring basic health information, and helping licensed staff carry out daily care plans. Primary responsibilities will involve assisting inmates with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and safety while keeping accurate records. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

  • Health Monitoring: Check vital signs, collect specimens, observe habits, and record accurate health information in logs
  • Personal Care: Assist with hygiene, bathing, dressing, feeding, skin care, and daily mobility needs
  • Safety Support: Help position inmates, use protective devices, assist with transfers, and follow infection control procedures
  • Escort Assistance: Guide wheelchair inmates to medical appointments, tests, and medication lines
  • Record Management: Receive and provide reports, update electronic health records, and complete daily and monthly documentation
  • Work Area Care: Maintain a clean work environment, report hazards, sterilize equipment, and manage supply inventory

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
    • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
    • Work hours to be determined.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirement:

  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
