What to Expect Seeking a skilled, hands-on Engineering Technician to execute New Product Introduction for Powertrain. This technician will execute parts trials in production environments without affecting production while also documenting any relevant data requested by engineering. This role builds and validates prototype and production-intent drive unit and battery hardware in Pilot and production line environments. This technician will also be able to troubleshoot electromechanical and process issues on the manufacturing line, and partners with Design, Process, Equipment, and Quality to take new parts and processes from first builds through trial, cutover, and stable production. Success means safe, high-quality builds, fast root-cause resolution, clear build documentation, and a smooth handoff to production. What You'll Do Execute and support production rate trials for new manufacturing parts, analyze results, and provide technical feedback to Engineering teams Diagnose and resolve issues in powertrain components and manufacturing processes through cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams Build, rework, and instrument prototype and pilot assemblies; document findings for engineering and quality Assist Engineering and Process teams to validate, commission, and fine-tune prototype manufacturing equipment Coordinate engineering validation builds and ensure timely shipment for testing Meet aggressive project timelines in a live production environment; flex priorities and schedule as NPI demands Follow HV, LOTO, and site EHS rules when working on energized or pressurized systems What You'll Bring 3+ years of hands-on experience with vehicles, equipment, or electromechanical systems Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics, drawings, and assembly instructions Experience in automotive, battery, powertrain, or high-volume electromechanical manufacturing Knowledge of how to use relevant tooling: multimeters, torque tools, wrenches, feeler gauges, etc. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems with minimal guidance Capability to work effectively in both collaborative and autonomous settings Strong technical communication and documentation skills Ability to move between prototype urgency and production discipline without sacrificing safety or quality Willingness to work extended or off-shift hours during trials and launches as needed Essential Physical Demands Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program
