Overview

As a Civil Engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Charlotte, NC office, you'll support civil engineering and land development projects for commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential clients. You'll work alongside project teams to develop site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management facilities, water quality best management practices, and utility designs. From urban redevelopment and industrial sites to schools and residential developments, you'll gain experience across a variety of projects while contributing throughout the project lifecycle-from conceptual design and permitting through bidding and construction.

You'll collaborate with CEC's multidisciplinary teams while interacting with clients, contractors, and local government officials to help move projects from initial concept through successful completion.

Key Responsibilities:

    Support the planning and design of commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential land development projects
  • Prepare site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management facilities, water quality best management practices, and utility designs
  • Assist with engineering calculations, design documents, plans, and other project deliverables
  • Support projects through conceptual design, regulatory review, permitting, bidding, and construction
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to support successful project delivery
  • Interact with clients, contractors, and local government officials throughout the design and construction process
  • Assist with addressing agency comments and project requirements during the regulatory review process
  • Support construction-phase activities as projects progress from design through completion

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering; Master's degree preferred
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Previous internship experience preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D
  • Ability to speak and write professionally
  • Experience and knowledge of commercial real estate site design is a plus
