Education Requirements



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, specifications, and production documentation.
  • Training in manufacturing, fabrication, or metalworking is a plus.


Experience Requirements



  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating hand grinders, belt grinders, or similar grinding equipment.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, metal fabrication, welding, machining, or industrial production environment.
  • Experience using hand tools, portable power tools, and bench tools.
  • Experience maintaining dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements preferred.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to identify defects and ensure products meet engineering specifications.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment and processes.
  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures and safety standards.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience working from blueprints and technical drawings.


Physical Capabilities



  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and grasp throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements while operating grinding equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, vibration, moving machinery, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain visual focus on detailed work.


Job Duties



  • Set up and operate grinding machines, hand grinders, and belt grinders according to production requirements.
  • Select, install, and adjust grinding wheels, attachments, and tooling to achieve required specifications.
  • Grind, blend, and finish steel components to meet blueprint tolerances and quality standards.
  • Remove excess coatings, burrs, and imperfections while minimizing taper, chatter, and surface defects.
  • Inspect parts throughout the grinding process to verify quality and completion requirements.
  • Read and follow engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Complete production documentation, update tracking systems, and move materials to the next operation.
  • Perform routine, preventive, and daily maintenance on assigned equipment and tools.
  • Report equipment issues, quality concerns, or safety hazards to supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support production goals.
