Job Duties:
This is a temporary, casual bioinformatics specialist position. The primary responsibilities are assisting fellow lab members with bioinformatics analyses and writing custom code to support lab research. This person may also help train new lab members in common UNIX tools for bioinformatics. Up to 10% of the job may involve molecular biology research, including preparing DNA samples for sequencing.

High school diploma Required
The employee needs experience with UNIX/Linux computing, including MacOS, and to be comfortable navigating the UNIX command line. A working knowledge of various programming languages, including, but not limited to, Python, Perl, and R, is also needed.

Preferred:
A background in biology and experience with population genetics are helpful.

Our lab is focused on genetic variation in plants. Two major areas of emphasis include the impact of domestication on patterns of polymorphism in domesticated species and the contribution of recombination to genetic variation and patterns of linkage disequilibrium.

Pay Range: $20.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
