Description

The Junior Systems Engineer supports the engineering team in the development, integration, and testing of aircraft subsystem models within a simulation environment, working under the guidance of senior engineering staff. This position provides an opportunity to build foundational systems engineering experience, including requirements analysis, model integration and testing, and system architecture support, while contributing to a technical team of engineers, analysts, and developers.

This position is contingent upon contract award, and employment will begin upon successful award and authorization to proceed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform systems engineering analysis, design, integration, testing, documentation, and implementation support activities under the direction of senior engineering staff.
  • Support the integration of aircraft subsystem models and associated capabilities into the simulation environment, including analysis of system interfaces, data exchanges, dependencies, and expected system behavior.
  • Support senior engineers and stakeholders in the development and documentation of system architectures, designs, functional decompositions, and interface definitions.
  • Develop and maintain system architecture models using standards-based modeling languages such as SysML and UML within Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
  • Support system requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, traceability, and verification coverage to ensure technical requirements are appropriately implemented and tested.
  • Participate throughout the system development lifecycle, with emphasis on requirements analysis, model integration, verification and validation, system testing, and acceptance activities.
  • Support the development of integration and test plans, procedures, test cases, and associated technical documentation.
  • Assist with the execution of integration and test events and analyze test results, system logs, interface behavior, and other technical data to identify and document discrepancies.
  • Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of system, subsystem, model, and interface integration issues in collaboration with software developers, model developers, test engineers, and senior systems engineers.
  • Support evaluation of system interoperability, performance, stability, security, scalability, and other system-level quality attributes.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of Interface Control Documents (ICDs), architecture products, requirements specifications, test documentation, engineering analyses, and other technical artifacts.
  • Support configuration management and engineering change activities by assessing proposed changes for potential impacts to requirements, interfaces, models, test activities, and overall system behavior.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and professionally and engage effectively with engineering staff, program management, teammates, and DoD customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience supporting systems engineering, software development, modeling and simulation, integration, test, or related technical activities.
  • Foundational understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements analysis, system architecture, interfaces, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation concepts, including Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) simulation environments.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts and at least one programming language such as C++, C#, Java, or Python.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation, system requirements, interface definitions, architecture diagrams, and software or simulation-related technical artifacts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with engineers, developers, analysts, management, and government customers.
