RN - Seasonal Ed RN (Non-Traveler)

Seasonal ED RNs are Scripps Health employees, not travelers, but are hired into a temporary/limited-tenure position.

• Seasonal hires are assigned full-time hours, consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week.
• The initial contract term is 13 weeks.
• Contracts may be extended by 4, 8, or 13 weeks, based on organizational needs and the RN's availability.
• Seasonal assignments may not exceed 26 total weeks.

Once a Seasonal RN has completed 26 total weeks, they must leave the organization for at least 6 months before returning to another seasonal role. At that time, they may also choose to apply to open positions & move into a core or SSRS permanent position, if available.

Unit and Shift Assignment- Shift and location assignments are determined based on unit request. Seasonal RNs may be contracted directly to a specific unit (work entire contract at one location & shift) or assigned to the SSRS ED RN float pool (work a variety of Scripps Eds/UC), depending on operational need. Staff do not choose their assigned location or shift. All of these departments operate on 12-hour shifts.

Seasonal RNs may be assigned to any of the following locations:

• Encinitas ED
• Green Hospital (Torrey Pines) 24-Hour Urgent Care
• La Jolla ED
• Chula Vista ED
• San Diego ED
• Rancho Bernardo Urgent Care (day shift only)
• Jefferson (Oceanside) Scripps Urgent Care (day shift only)

Typical Assignment Pattern

Typically, Seasonal ED RNs are assigned to one location and one shift for their initial 13-week contract. If the RN is available for an extension, the first consideration is whether there is a continued need at the same location. If not, extension opportunities may be offered at another Scripps ED or Urgent Care site.

Compensation

• Base pay: Flat hourly rate of $68.03/hour
• Benefits: Available beginning on day 60, if elected
• Night shift differential: $7.24/hour for hours worked between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM

Extension / Completion Bonuses- Seasonal RNs are also eligible for contract completion bonuses as follows:

• 4-week extension: $2,700
• 8-week extension: $5,500
• 13-week extension: $9,000

Bonus Eligibility

Completion bonuses are paid upon successful completion of the limited-tenure agreement. To qualify, the RN must:

• Complete 408 hours, and
• Have no formal corrective actions on file

This position is eligible for New Hire and Relocation Incentives. Seasonal positions are eligible for completion incentives. Ask your Talent Advisor for details.

The following are not eligible for hiring incentives:

• Internal candidates
• Rehires that left Scripps less than 3 years ago

In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met:

• Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
• Must remain in original department/specialty
• Must remain in original Job Title
• Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 18 months of recent RN experience in an adult emergency department.
• Current CA RN License.
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• Registered nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• TNCC Certification

Travel Requirements:

• May be assigned to the following Scripps Health campuses: Encinitas, La Jolla, San Diego and Chula Vista. May also be assigned to Torrey Pines or Rancho Bernardo Urgent Care.
