Position Overview This position is responsible for utilizing knowledge of industrial controls, industrial networks, programming software, industrial automation and production equipment. This also includes providing production equipment support such as to minimize downtime, improve operating efficiencies, and facilitate equipment upgrades and modifications. Responsibilities also include applying electrical theory and related knowledge to design, develop, test and implement equipment control system modifications as required by the plant. Ability to design, specify and manage the installation and programming of new control systems, Operator Interface terminals, Windows based Area Control Systems, as well as PLCs, Servos, and various other electronic machine control apparatus. This position requires the ability to perform and maintain all electric motors, control panels, sensors, drives, starters and all of the PLC and networking equipment. Responsibilities Controls related projects
- Responsible for installation, operation, and maintenance of instruments and automation equipment, and provide detailed reporting of assigned project activity to management
- Manage the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment as needed
- Coordination of projects with management, contractors, and utilities
- Train team members and operators on operation of new or modified equipment
- Analyze, assist and resolve problems as they are identified; may include working with production and maintenance departments
- Assist with development and implementation of standards for electrical and controls components for use within the facility and with suppliers
- Provide production equipment support utilizing knowledge and understanding of the equipment control systems, programming, processes and components being utilized
- Assures that all equipment control systems have current electrical and control system documentation in place
- Ability to create and update facility drawings using AutoCAD
- Perform HMI creation and updates as required
- Maintain maximum personal knowledge on all relevant controls related hardware and software
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, electrical, or related engineering
- Knowledge of PLC's and automation applications and experience in the area of controls, including but not limited to experience with AutoCAD, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, RSNetworx, RSLinx and other FactoryTalk platforms
- Computer proficient with the Microsoft Windows operating system
- Computer proficient with the Microsoft Project and Office including Word and Excel
- Strong background in electrical engineering
- 3-5 years of Controls experience
- Experience as an electrician or controls engineer in an industrial environment desired
