Job Description

Wyman-Gordon, located in Brighton MI, provides Nickel-based Extruded Powder Alloy for Military and Commercial Turbine Applications. The Brighton MI facility offers Vacuum-Melt Atomizers, Lathes, and Equipment for Complete Billet Processing and Certification. Human Resource Generalist

Summary:

The Human Resource Generalist performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, recruitment, affirmative action, labor relations, benefits management, and payroll functions. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the business needs.

This role will reside in Brighton MI but may be required to support both the Worcester MA and Princeton KY locations. Some travel may be required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Primary recruiter for all non-exempt level roles including establishing community based relationships and pipeline programs to support continued growth.
  • Monitors FMLA and other leaves of absence.
  • Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
  • Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action.
  • Monitors tardy and absenteeism reports and ensures proper documentation is issued on employees who have excessive tardiness or absenteeism problems. Reports vacation, sick, personal day and holiday use to payroll and scheduling. Maintains and distributes report of same.
  • Maintains employee personnel files including all training records.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are done in a timely manner (i.e., three months, six months, one year and yearly thereafter).
  • Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation or changes. Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process. Maintains and distributes list of new and cancelled employees under each benefit plan. Verifies benefit billing accuracy and processes for payment.
  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business preferred.
  • One to three years of Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge intermediate to expert level.
  • Experience with ADP and KRONOS strongly preferred.
  • PHR /SPHR SHRM Certifications preferred.
  • Strong communicator with a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and dynamic situations in a complex work environment.
