Senior Nuclear Engineering Technologist

We are hiring for TWO Senior Nuclear Engineering Technologists.

One as a Senior Nuclear Engineering Technologist - Radiography Coordinator and the other as a Senior Nuclear Engineering Technologist - Routine NDE Coordinator.

Job Summary

Radiography Coordinator

The primary purpose of the Senior Nuclear Engineering Technologist, Radiography Coordinator, is to plan, schedule, communicate, coordinate, and oversee the execution of radiographic examinations and associated nondestructive examination (NDE) activities across the nuclear fleet. This role ensures radiographic inspections are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, station procedures, radiation protection standards, and industry codes and standards.

The Radiography Coordinator is responsible for developing implementation strategies, contingency plans, status reports, management briefings, contract requisitions, and site presentations related to radiographic inspection activities. This position requires frequent interaction with Corporate and Site Management, Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Radiation Protection, Fleet Engineering, Weld Tech support, Programs team, Principal, and Implementation NDE Level IIIs, vendor personnel, and other technical stakeholders.

During field execution, the coordinator provides oversight to verify work progress, ensure compliance with approved radiographic techniques, radiological controls, and regulatory requirements, resolve emergent issues, and ensure inspection objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with outage and work management schedules.

Routine NDE Coordinator

The main purpose of the Senior Nuclear Engineering Technologist: Routine NDE Coordinator - is to coordinate the implementation of Routine NDE activities throughout the fleet. This applies to all Routine NDE, including select Programs activities, but excluding Steam Generator inspection activities, which are governed by PD-EG-PWR-1801 (Steam Generator Management Program).

Utilizing Routine NDE schedules created by the Fleet Programs group, the Routine NDE Coordinator will arrange the needed implementation site specific support to ensure successful completion of the associated inspection. The Routine NDE Coordinator will also interface with the internal resources and/or vendor provider to ensure equipment and personnel are prepared for the inspection. Implementation of contingency plans, management updates, scheduling of work in P6 and site presentations will be performed by this individual. Upon implementation of said activities, the coordinator will transition into an oversight role to validate the activities are proceeding as expected.

The Routine NDE Coordinator will have frequent interaction with various Site and Fleet organizations. These can include Corporate/Site Management, Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Principal NDE Level IIIs, Implementation NDE Level IIIs, Implementation NDE Level IIs, (eg: ORB / T-3 / PHC presentations), and various engineers. The individual will attend meetings representing Routine NDE, review work schedules, and perform in outage schedule related functions consistent with the milestones per AD-WC-ALL-0320.

Job Responsibilities

Radiography Coordinator

• Scheduling, coordinating and implementation of Radiography activities
• Involvement in vendor/ Internal resource equipment and personnel preparation activities, both pre-outage and outage
• Prepare needed documents for Site and Fleet management (eg; contingency plans, T-3 presentations, 2-year implementation plans, etc)
• Issuing Contract Requisitions, participating in vendor bid events, reviewing invoices prior to approval, maintaining pre-outage and outage budgets

Routine NDE Coordinator

• Coordinating the pre-outage implementation of Routine NDE activities
• Involvement in vendor/ Internal resource equipment and personnel preparation activities, both pre-outage and outage
• Involvement of the oversight of implementation of outage related Routine NDE activities
• Issuing Contract Requisitions for routine NDE services, participating in vendor bid events, reviewing invoices prior to approval, maintaining pre-outage and outage budgets
• Prepare needed documents for Site and Fleet management (eg; contingency plans, T-3 presentations, 2 year implementation plans, etc)

Basic Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Engineering Technology
• 6 years minimum required related work experience
• In lieu of degree, High School / GED and 8 years minimum required related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

Radiography Coordinator

• Current or previous NDE Level II certification in Radiography Testing (RT) and/or other NDE disciplines.
• Previous Contract Management experience (issuing Contract Requests / Change Requests, approving invoices, managing various accounting codes)
• Experience serving as a Radiography Coordinator, Routine NDE Coordinator, or Outage Coordinator.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively use Project Management skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of the ASTM, ANSI, ASNT and ASME codes.
• Demonstrated advance techniques of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote, etc)

Routine NDE Coordinator

• Working knowledge and understanding of the QA program and other related documents.
• Understanding of NDE inspection methodologies
• Familiarity with radiation protection principles, radiological controls, and ALARA practices
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and/or with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
• Experience reading and interpreting procedures, drawings, specifications, and codes.
• NAS Work Control and CAP experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years' NDE experience in one or more of the following methods:
  • Magnetic Particle (MT)
  • Liquid Penetrant (PT)
  • Visual/ ISI (VT)
  • Radiography (RT)
  • Ultrasonics (UT)
• Previous Work Management experience
• Previous Contract Management experience (issuing Contract Requests / Change Requests, approving invoices, managing various accounting codes)
• Working knowledge of P6 scheduling tool
• Previous Engineering experience
• Demonstrated ability to effectively use Project Management skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of the ASTM, ANSI, ASNT and ASME codes.
• Demonstrated advance techniques of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote, etc)

Working Conditions

• Occasional Travel (~45%)
• Occasional Exempt Supplemental Pay during approved outage support
• Subject to callouts, Nights, Weekends and/or support at fleet stations
• Normal work schedule is Monday-Thursday (4x10)
• Hybrid working posture after on-boarding period

Specific Requirements

• Either 4+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years equivalent experience without a degree
