Pay & Benefits



  • Salary - $170,000 - $200,000
  • Full-Time
  • Bonus Eligible
  • Relocation is not provided
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire
  • Eligible for (3 or 2) weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
  • 401(k): 3% company contribution and additional 3% company match

The Technical Development & Commercialization Lead - Data Center Couplings serves as the technical authority for Gates' Data Center product portfolio, focusing on hose, coupling, and assembly solutions used in liquid cooling and thermal management applications. This role provides technical leadership across product development, application engineering, customer engagement, testing, validation, and commercialization activities.

The Technical Development & Commercializtation Lead - Data Center Couplings partners closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Operations, Quality, and key customers to develop innovative, high-performance solutions that meet the evolving requirements of hyperscale, colocation, OEM, and data center infrastructure customers. This position plays a critical role in advancing Gates' growth strategy within the rapidly expanding data center market.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership



  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for Data Center hose, coupling, and assembly solutions.
  • Lead technical strategy and product development efforts for liquid cooling and thermal management applications.
  • Provide guidance and direction to engineering teams on product design, performance requirements, materials selection, and system integration.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive solutions to support product innovation.
  • Drive technical decision-making throughout the product lifecycle.


Product Development & Engineering



  • Lead the technical development of new products from concept through commercialization.
  • Define product specifications, design requirements, performance criteria, and validation plans.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Product Management, and Manufacturing teams to develop innovative solutions that meet customer and market demands.
  • Support stage-gate development activities and ensure technical deliverables are achieved.
  • Review designs and validate compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.


Customer & Application Engineering Support



  • Act as the primary technical interface for strategic customers and complex application opportunities.
  • Work directly with hyperscale customers, OEMs, system integrators, and colocation providers to understand application requirements.
  • Support customer design reviews, technical presentations, product demonstrations, and field evaluations.
  • Provide technical recommendations regarding product selection, system performance, and installation best practices.
  • Assist commercial teams in resolving technical issues and supporting business growth initiatives.


Testing, Validation & Reliability



  • Develop and oversee product validation, qualification, and reliability testing programs.
  • Analyze product performance data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support failure analysis investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and qualification standards for data center applications.
  • Ensure products meet customer performance expectations and quality requirements.


Cross-Functional Collaboration



  • Partner with Product Management to define product roadmaps and technology strategies.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to support successful product launches.
  • Provide technical training for commercial, customer service, and operational teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product performance, manufacturing processes, and customer satisfaction.


Industry & Technology Leadership



  • Monitor advancements in liquid cooling technologies, thermal management systems, fluid transfer solutions, and data center infrastructure.
  • Support intellectual property development, innovation initiatives, and technical roadmaps.
  • Contribute to Gates' long-term growth strategy within the data center market.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 11+ years of engineering, product development, application engineering, or technical leadership experience.
  • Experience with fluid transfer systems, hose and coupling technologies, engineered assemblies, or thermal management solutions.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional technical projects.
  • Strong understanding of product design, validation, testing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience within data center infrastructure, liquid cooling systems, thermal management, or mission-critical environments.
  • Knowledge of cooling distribution units (CDUs), direct-to-chip cooling, immersion cooling, or related liquid cooling technologies.
  • Experience with hose assemblies, quick disconnect couplings, fluid conveyance systems, and sealing technologies.
  • Familiarity with reliability testing, failure analysis, and qualification standards.
  • Experience working with global engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and certifications.
