POSITION SPECIFICS The Bisanz Lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Penn State seeks a motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to investigate how the human gut microbiome shapes health and disease. We combine multi-omics, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), synthetic microbial communities, and gnotobiotic animal models to uncover how microbes interact with dietary components including xenobiotics to influence infectious and chronic diseases. Responsibilities: Design and lead research projects investigating interactions among the gut microbiome, dietary components, drugs, and other xenobiotics. Develop and apply experimental and/or computational approaches appropriate to the project. Analyze and interpret data, prepare manuscripts, and present findings at scientific meetings. Collaborate with lab members and investigators across disciplines. Contribute to mentoring trainees and maintaining a rigorous, supportive, and inclusive research environment. Applicants must hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree by the start date, with relevant training in microbiology, microbial ecology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or a related field. This position is intended for scientists who have recently completed, or are completing, their doctoral training. Please submit the following materials: A curriculum vitae.
