Under general supervision of the Clinic Manager, the Behavioral Health Therapist - Outpatient Psychiatry provides comprehensive psychosocial mental and behavioral health services within the Senior Behavioral Health Program, serving patients age 65 and older. Services include primarily brief, short-term individual and group therapy, diagnostic evaluations, assessments, treatment planning, care coordination, and case management. Interviews patients and facilitates discussion regarding diagnosis and treatment planning, with consideration of the unique behavioral health needs and psychosocial factors affecting older adults. Provides case coordination, client advocacy, and linkage to community and supportive services as needed. Serves as a liaison with other Psychiatry Division providers and participates in multidisciplinary treatment teams to support coordinated, patient-centered care.

• Master's degree in a related mental health area.

• A valid California license as a mental health provider (Psychologist, LMFT, LCSW or LPCC) in good standing.

• Minimum of five (5+) or more years of relevant experience.

• Advanced knowledge and understanding of clinical counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards. Advanced knowledge of a specific counseling domain.

• Advanced knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights.

• Advanced ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic approach and modify as necessary.

• Advanced ability to develop and present educational programs and / or workshops.

• Advanced problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

• Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with diverse client group.

• Advanced verbal and written communication with the ability to influence and persuade.

• Skills associated with program development and implementation.

• Knowledge of business software and specialized applications / systems used in behavioral health settings.

• Experience providing behavioral health services to adults age 65 and older, preferably within a senior or geriatric population.

• Bi-lingual in Spanish.

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
