Your Role on the Team

Provide financial and analytical support to the Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Department Chair, and the department's clinical administration unit. This requires the ability to critically identify and resolve departmental issues through data analysis under the Clinical Integration Economic Model, including monitoring, auditing, and analyzing clinical activities such as charges, work RVUs, professional revenue, payroll expenses, and related financial transactions. Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for monitoring and reconciling clinical and payroll activity for approximately 250 clinical faculty, representing more than $94 million in professional revenue, while identifying discrepancies, analyzing variances, supporting payroll reconciliation and resolution, and providing accurate reporting to department leadership.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to function as a member of a team.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability to interpret and summarize complex financial information and narrative reports pertaining to such topics as budget development fiscal planning and reconciliation
  • Ability to audit documents and determine compliance to policies
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and employ effective problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality of financial and personnel matters
  • Demonstrated skills to independently analyze situations, interpret data, define problems and/or objectives, identify relevant factors, and formulate logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a complex workload in an environment with changing priorities and competing deadlines
  • Possess excellent mathematical, financial/business and analytical skills with the ability to formulate clear and concise budgets, financial spread sheets, and reports useful for planning and decision-making.
  • BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years of related work experience.

  • Knowledge of Kuali Financial System
  • Knowledge of School of Medicine Decision Support System
