THE POSITION

The Clerical Supervisor 1 role with the Adams County Assistance Office offers a chance to guide a dedicated clerical team and support essential services for the community. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position leads a unit of clerical staff and ensures that daily tasks are completed accurately and on time. The role supports office operations by planning work, guiding staff, and maintaining quality standards. As a Clerical Supervisor 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Work Planning: Assign tasks, set priorities, and review work for accuracy and timeliness
  • Staff Guidance: Train staff, address complex issues, and support employee development
  • Performance Oversight: Prepare evaluations, update position descriptions, and provide feedback to staff
  • Workflow Monitoring: Track data entry, manage mail distribution, and ensure proper handling of case records
  • Policy Implementation: Communicate new procedures, coordinate meetings, and maintain unit compliance
  • Office Coverage: Ensure adequate staffing for clerical operations and adjust schedules when needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Gettysburg, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Adams County. If no eligible candidates who live within Adams County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
