Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the communities served by Travis Credit Union, which include the following counties: Alameda, Colusa, Contra Costa, Merced, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, and Yolo. For hybrid and remote roles, candidates are still required to reside within a commutable distance of our corporate headquarters in Vacaville, California.

Summary: Travis Credit Union's (TCU) Assistant Vice President (AVP), Member and Deposit Operations provides strategic leadership, oversight, and direction for the Credit Union' Central/Deposit Operations, Business Operations, and Member Service Administration (MSA). This role is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, risk management, service quality, and process efficiency across all three departments.

Reporting to the VP, Banking Operations, the AVP leads the managers responsible for Deposit Operations, Business Operations, and Member Service Administration and serves as the senior operational leader for the end-to-end lifecycle of consumer, business, and specialty deposit account services and transactions. The role is accountable for delivering scalable operational processes, maintaining audit readiness, driving automation and technology initiatives, managing operational risk, and supporting organizational growth through strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

The AVP, Member and Deposit Operations ensures the accurate and compliant administration of payment and deposit processing, business account servicing, IRAs, trusts, deceased accounts, fiduciary relationships, escheatment, treasury services support, account onboarding, legal documentation review, fraud mitigation, and transaction operations. This position is a critical leader in aligning operational strategies with organizational objectives while enhancing member experience and operational effectiveness.

Profile:

  • Leads, trains, evaluates, coaches, professionally develops and motivates staff to attain department goals. Sets and monitors performance goals. Promotes a work environment that encourages involvement, initiative and teamwork. Builds career development paths for assigned staff.
  • Drives departmental strategies, objectives, and performance standards that align with enterprise goals and operational priorities.
  • Oversees the processing and administration of ACH, wire transfers, check processing, business accounts, specialty deposit accounts, trusts, IRAs, fiduciary accounts, dormant accounts, escheatment activities, deceased accounts, and related operational services.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, including but not limited to BSA/AML, OFAC, NACHA Rules, FinCEN Beneficial Ownership requirements, IRS regulations, NCUA requirements, share insurance regulations, unclaimed property laws, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as the executive escalation point for complex operational, regulatory, legal, fraud, and member service matters.
  • Drives and partners closely with Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Information Technology, Treasury Services, Digital Banking, and Retail Operations to ensure effective operational execution and risk mitigation.
  • Provides strategic oversight of fraud detection, transaction monitoring, investigations, dispute resolution, loss prevention activities, and operational controls.
  • Maintains enterprise-level audit readiness and ensures timely remediation of audit findings, examination recommendations, and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for automation, workflow redesign, technology enhancements, and process optimization.
  • Directs operational implementation of new products, services, systems, and regulatory changes while ensuring appropriate training, communication, and adoption.
  • Establishes and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), service level agreements (SLAs), quality standards, productivity measures, and operational scorecards.
  • Utilizes data analytics and operational reporting to improve organizational effectiveness, capacity planning, resource allocation, and decision-making.
  • Ensures strong internal controls, documentation standards, records retention practices, and information governance across all operational areas.
  • Oversees vendor management activities, including contract administration, performance monitoring, service level compliance, and strategic vendor partnerships.
  • Develops and manages departmental budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, and resource allocation to ensure effective financial stewardship.
  • Builds a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning while developing succession plans and leadership pipelines.
  • Supports strategic business initiatives, deposit growth objectives, and member experience enhancements through effective operational leadership.
  • Represents Core Operations on executive committees, strategic initiatives, enterprise projects, and organizational working groups.
  • Maintains current knowledge of emerging industry trends, regulatory developments, operational risks, payment technologies, and business banking practices.

  • Comprehensive understanding of IRA administration, trusts, fiduciary accounts, powers of attorney, probate processes, deceased accounts, and escheatment requirements.
  • Expert knowledge of banking and credit union regulations, including BSA/AML, OFAC, NACHA, IRS regulations, NCUA requirements, Beneficial Ownership regulations, and applicable state laws.
  • Strong audit, compliance, quality assurance, and internal control expertise.
  • Strong fraud detection, investigations, dispute resolution, and operational risk management experience.
  • Experience leading operational transformation, process improvement, automation, technology implementations, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ability to leverage data, analytics, and performance metrics to drive operational effectiveness, resource planning, and business decisions.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, resource allocation, workforce planning, and operational performance.
  • Skilled at balancing member experience, operational efficiency, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills with the ability to build partnerships across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing complex vendor relationships, contract administration, and strategic partnerships.
  • Proficiency with core banking systems, payment platforms, workflow tools, business applications.

Supervisory Relationships:

  • Reports directly to the VP, Banking Operations.
  • Direct supervisory responsibility for assigned department leadership.
  • Direct Reports include:
    • Manager, Central Operations
    • Manager, Business Operations
    • Manager, Member Service Administration (MSA)
  • Overall management responsibility for all department staff.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, Organizational Leadership, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial services, banking operations, credit union operations, or a related industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing managers, supervisors, or multiple operational teams.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing complex deposit, payment, business banking, operational support, or specialty account administration functions.
  • Proven experience managing regulatory compliance, audits, operational risk programs, and enterprise initiatives.
  • Experience leading operational transformation, process improvement, technology implementations, and automation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of consumer and business deposit products, payment systems, treasury services support, specialty accounts, and operational controls.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Project Management, Risk Management, Compliance, or operational leadership certifications are preferred.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership and participating in enterprise-level strategic planning is preferred.

Compensation:

  • AVP, Member and Deposit Operations: Grade 22: $154,876.80 - $191,318.40.
