POSITION SPECIFICS

The College of Engineering and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University are seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill an Assistant Research Professor position to lead in vivo studies in dual-switch selection gene drives. This position will play a key role in advancing the in vivo delivery, efficacy, and safety of candidate dual-switch selection drives.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related field by the time of appointment and strong hands-on expertise in in vivo mouse handling and tumor models. Candidates with additional expertise in one or more of the following are especially encouraged to apply: cell and gene therapy, synthetic biology, tyrosine kinase-driven drug resistance, in vivo imaging, and agent-based modeling. The successful applicant needs excellent interpersonal and communication skills and must be able to work across multiple labs, including the Hemann Lab at MIT.

Additional Information:

The position will be in the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Department and affiliated with the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. The Penn State BME Department and Huck Institutes provide a rich environment in which faculty, postdocs, and graduate and undergraduate students regularly interact and conduct collaborative studies, with access to state-of-the-art core facilities.

Assistant Research Professors will have the opportunity to write their own grants and develop independent research directions from the security of an established, R01-funded program.
