Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support Teichert Solar's Design/Build group by assisting to produce accurate, code-compliant shop and erection drawings for structural steel and miscellaneous fabrication. This role works closely with project engineers and fabrication shops to translate structural designs into detailing that supports safe, efficient, and profitable construction projects.
Focus & Scope
Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:
- Detailing & Drafting
- Prepare shop drawings, erection drawings, and bills of material (BOM) for structural steel and miscellaneous metals using detailing software (e.g. Tekla Structures, SDS/2, AutoCAD).
- Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and connection design criteria per AISC and AWS standards.
- Verify dimensions, connections, and material specifications before submittal.
- Perform quality checks, including self-checks and peer review, before submitting for approval.
- Coordination & Schedule
- Coordinate with Project Engineers (PEs) to resolve design conflicts and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with fabrications shops to ensure drawings support efficient, accurate production.
- Track project timelines and deliver drawings on schedule, meeting customer expectations.
- Support construction and project schedule goals.

Role Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Associate's degree in drafting/CAD technology or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
Experience and Industry Expertise:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in structural detailing or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience
Specific Job Requirements:
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation
- Valid Driver's License
- Proficiency in Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or similar drawing software
- Strong knowledge of AISC standards, welding symbols, and steel connection types
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural blueprints
- Ability to create and maintain design standards for drawing sets, develop CAD library
- Understand specific material requirements for solar projects
- Current on all company-required safety training
- Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and successfully avoid conflicts-of-interest
- General understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, technology, equipment methods, cost control, schedules, etc., and their impact on project activities
- Thorough knowledge of company's Standard Operating Procedures/Policies

Equipment Used:
- General office equipment, telephone, detailing software + licenses, personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, gas detection equipment) for any shop or field visits
Physical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Physical: Sitting for long periods working on computer or attending meetings. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, stooping, and crawling, and exposure to extreme temperature and/or humidity. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Work Environment: Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, extreme weather conditions prevalent at that time. May work various shifts or hours, including early mornings, dusk, or evenings.
HOURLY BASE SALARY RANGE:
$32.46/hr - $45.44/hr
The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonable expects to pay for the position. The actual base salary is subject to variation due to the role, level, geographic location, relevant education, training, or experience, among other factors.
