During the second half of the month, the analyst will support workflow optimization, automation, documentation improvements, and data-related initiatives. The position works closely with internal business partners and external reinsurance stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant reporting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly stop-loss captive reporting, including internal accruals and external submissions.
  • Manage assigned source files, including captive policy lists, during the first five business days of each month.
  • Apply treaty requirements and business logic to validate, reconcile, and troubleshoot financial data.
  • Produce submission reporting by treaty year following financial close.
  • Follow established checklists, procedures, and documentation to maintain reporting accuracy and compliance.
  • Review highly manual reinsurance workflows and identify opportunities for automation, streamlining, or transition to offshore operations.
  • Evaluate and improve existing process documentation for clarity, accuracy, and usability.
  • Use AI and data tools to support process analysis, workflow redesign, automation, and efficiency improvements.
  • Support migration from legacy database processes to modern data analytics platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve turnaround times, and strengthen operational controls.
  • Collaborate with reinsurance accounting, finance, actuarial, employee benefits, stop-loss, and other internal teams.
  • Communicate clearly with reinsurers, captive managers, and other external stakeholders.
  • Work independently to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.

Job Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience in insurance, finance, actuarial, accounting, operations, reinsurance administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with reinsurance operations or administration, preferably involving group, ceded, or stop-loss reinsurance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including complex formulas, large datasets, multi-tab workbooks, pivot tables, and VBA.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot data, reporting, and system issues independently.
  • Solid understanding of reinsurance concepts, including group ceded reinsurance structures such as coinsurance and YRT.
  • Ability to interpret reinsurance treaties and understand the obligations and requirements of both ceding companies and reinsurers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with large datasets and structured reporting materials.
  • Experience using automation or AI tools to improve processes and operational efficiency.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, patient, and team-oriented approach.
  • Experience with Dataiku, SQL, Python, or R is preferred.
  • Experience with employee benefits products such as life, disability, health, or stop-loss is preferred.
  • Experience in medical stop-loss, group benefits, supplemental health, or ceded reinsurance is preferred.
