Location: Oncology Consultants - Sugar LandHiring Range: $15.60 - $26.58 Position SummaryThe role of the Infusion Medical Assistant is to facilitate the delivery of oncology patientcare under the supervision of the licensednurse and/or physician. This is accomplished through direct and indirect patient care activities. Key Performance Areas Direct care 1. Laboratory services

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Patient Care Clinic Admissions The MA admits patients to the clinic area as appointed. Vital signs are obtained: weight, height, BP, temperature, pulse, and respirations. Deviations from the norm are reported to the nurse / M.D. Documentation of VS, Labs, medication list, new prescriptions. Clinic Discharge Patients discharged from the infusion room by the nurse are provided with follow-up appointments as ordered under the direction of the nurse. Tests are scheduled for the patient's return appointment as ordered and prep instructions are provided. Patients are transferred to the check out desk with the visit fee ticket for exit from the office. Patients who require transportation from the office are provided with a wheelchair and accompanied from the office by the Nursing Assistant. 2. Laboratory Services The Nursing Assistant (NA) will obtain written orders for laboratory testing from the nurse and/or M.D. for each patient admitted to the office. Samples obtained by the medical or nursing staffs are provided in the appropriate containers which have been labeled by the nurse or Lab MA. Lab services are completed per practice policy, in compliance with CLIA guidelines. Reference Labs Verbal and written instructions for sample collection are provided to each patient when self-collection is required. Required specimens are then collected from the patient, according to the practice and CLIA guidelines. Samples are then transported to the Clinic Lab and processed and stored by the Lab MA until reference lab pick up is completed. 3. Clinic Support Services Housekeeping The MA will manage the biohazardous waste per practice standards. The NA will identify the scheduled pickup day for all staff, allowing preparation time for packing the boxes. Infusion room waste will be removed and sealed weekly and prn by the NA.
