| Position Highlights |
The Brand Communications Office within the College of Medicine - Tucson (COM-T) is seeking a Digital Content Specialist, Senior. The digital content specialist will serve as a generalist, supporting the team's internal and external communications goals. The successful candidate will have strong writing and editing skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and demonstrable skills in strategic digital marketing, including developing creative, goal-driven campaigns that target diverse audiences. Work is fast-paced and deadline-driven. Depending on the digital content specialist's skills and interests, and to complement other team members' skills, there may be opportunities for incorporating other tasks into the role, such as photography, photo editing, video, and graphic design, or media relations.

| Duties & Responsibilities |
Social media content:
- Produces, posts, and schedules social media content (written and visual) weekly for the college's social media accounts, with an eye toward representing the diversity of the faculty, staff, and student body.
- Analyzes and optimizes COM-T's flagship social media accounts to achieve institutional goals.
- Tracks, analyzes, and reports data from college's flagship social media channels to demonstrate and optimize strategic social media's success and identify areas to improve digital media performance.
- Maintains knowledge of industry best practices, techniques, standards, and trends.
- Monitors social media forums, direct messages and mentions, and the email inbox for Brand Communications, and responds to comments as well as DMs as needed.
Newsletter creation:
- Gathers content from approved sources.
- Edits content to align with Associated Press, U of A, and internal style guidelines.
- Fact-checks submissions wherever possible.
- Ensures featured graphics and photos are approved, sized, and ready for upload into content management system.
- Includes light photo editing.
- Works with a variety of staff charged with submitting content to ensure Associated Press style, IRB requirements, and university guidelines are met, while ensuring content is relevant and meets newsletter criteria.
- Works with editor on revisions.
- Oversees quality control of newsletter production by testing each link, reviewing text, and ensuring photos are properly formatted.
- Formats and schedules newsletter for publication in Trellis/Salesforce CRM.
- Monitors selected college and campus newsletters and publications as well as the office's inbox for content submissions.
- Answers a variety of questions from submitters on the process and format of submissions, responding to issues diplomatically while upholding the newsletter guidelines.
- Pulls metrics, prepares metrics reports.
- Spearheads occasional reader surveys (once every few years), performs quantitative and qualitative analyses of results to inform changes to newsletter.
- Supports mailing list management.
- Creates/updates email templates.
- Supports maintenance of SOPs for newsletter creation.
Other digital content:
- Writes, formats, and schedules internal communications, such as standalone email announcements, using Trellis/Salesforce CRM.
- May adapt newsletter, standalone email, and social media content for the web, including events and news.
- Pulls metrics and prepares reports.
- Assists with conducting interviews and writes student, staff, and faculty profiles for use in newsletter, social media, and web.
- Occasionally creates and submits web stories, press releases, and media advisories.
- Oversees weekly updates for monitor outside Dean's Office, based on newsletter and social media content.
Website Support:
- May edit, proofread, and manage content using content management systems.
- Provides backup coverage to moderation queue to ensure that revisions made by department-level page editors adhere to web best practices, university style guidelines, college style guidelines, Associated Press style guidelines, etc.
- May support website migration project, which involves adapting source material to adhere to new templates and web best practices.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field, or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional-level experience, required.
- Basic health/science literacy.
- Basic understanding of HIPAA and FERPA laws and compliance.
- Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat).
- Skill in Drupal QuickStart 3.0.
- Skill in Trellis CRM, which is powered by Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
