About the role

The Digital Content Producer builds and ships the content that pet parents see on Petco.com. You'll turn marketing campaigns and site initiatives into polished, fast, accessible web experiences, working in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React.

We're in the middle of a transition from hand-coded HTML and CSS content to a library of reusable React components in Sanity. You'll work in both: producing content in HTML and CSS today while helping build the components that will replace it.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role that sits between front-end development and content production. You'll deliver content on time against a busy marketing and site release schedule and partner with UX, Product, SEO and Engineering to make every release better for customers and the business.

What you'll do:

  • Build and maintain reusable React components in TypeScript, using Storybook to develop, test and document them, so content teams can assemble Petco.com pages in Sanity CMS without writing new code.
  • Develop and implement website content in semantic HTML, CSS and JavaScript, from campaign landing pages to promotional placements.
  • Translate designs from Figma and Photoshop, along with creative briefs, into responsive, pixel-accurate pages that work across browsers and devices.
  • Keep up with a fast-moving marketing and site release schedule, delivering content on time and adapting as priorities and launch dates shift.
  • Partner with UX, Product, SEO and Engineering to improve user experience, conversion and overall site effectiveness.
  • QA all content before release, checking functionality, links, responsiveness, accessibility and cross-browser behavior.
  • Apply SEO and web accessibility (WCAG) best practices to everything you publish.
  • Keep page performance in mind, including image optimization and lightweight code.
  • Troubleshoot and fix content and display issues on the live site, often under tight timelines around promotions and launches.
  • Document components and processes so other producers and authors can use them confidently.
  • Use version control (Git) and follow team code review and release practices.

What you bring:

  • 2-4+ years of experience building websites or web content, ideally in e-commerce, retail or a digital marketing team.
  • Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript and React, including building reusable components, with an eye for clean, maintainable code.
  • Experience working in a content management system (headless CMS preferred).
  • Solid understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility and web accessibility standards.
  • Working experience with Figma and Photoshop, including pulling specs and assets from design files.
  • A careful QA mindset and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization skills, with experience managing multiple projects and deadlines at once.
  • Clear communication with both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Comfort with Git and modern front-end tooling such as Vite.
  • A portfolio or code samples showing recent web work.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Sanity CMS (including custom schemas or components) and Storybook.
  • Knowledge of SEO fundamentals: structured data, meta tags, page speed.
  • Experience with A/B testing or personalization tools.
  • Experience with project tracking tools such as Jira.
  • A love of pets.
