Production Planning Manager

Position
The Production Planning Manager is responsible for leading the scheduling and production planning activities to ensure efficient, on-time manufacturing operations. This role manages a team of production planners, develops detailed production schedules, and collaborates closely with manufacturing, procurement, and sales teams to meet customer demands while optimizing resources and minimizing costs.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of production planners to ensure scheduling efficiency and team development.
- Create, maintain, and optimize production schedules based on capacity, material availability, and customer demand.
- Analyze production data and forecasts to anticipate resource needs and avoid bottlenecks.
- Work cross-functionally with procurement, inventory, manufacturing, and sales to coordinate and communicate production plans.
- Monitor performance indicators such as on-time delivery, production adherence, and planner performance.
- Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate urgent customer orders, equipment downtime, or supply chain disruptions.
- Implement best practices in production planning and scheduling systems, including ERP tools.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning processes, reduce lead times, and improve efficiency.
- Ensure all scheduling activities align with safety, quality, and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of experience in production planning or scheduling, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, MRP/ERP systems, and capacity planning tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities with a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
