About the Job

This Access Assistant position will work directly with a faculty to provide assistance with computer-based tasks. A successful applicant will have the opportunity to make a unique contribution to the workflow of a state-of-the-art research lab working on cutting-edge pharmacological research. Preferred experience with PyMOL and Adobe Illustrator is not required and can be taught on the job. Fast and accurate typing skills are essential to the position, as is flexibility with hours and availability.

Job Description
100% - Directly assist faculty with the following tasks:
-Browsing and writing email
-Browsing through academic journals and papers
-Taking dictation for grant writing and academic papers.
-Using Adobe Illustrator to craft schematics and create figures for grants, papers and talks.
-Using Adobe Dreamweaver to perform website upkeep
-Using PyMOL Visualizing protein structures and creating publication quality figures for grants, papers and presentations
-Running data through in-house Python-based analysis software.
-Using Powerpoint to build presentations from figures created in other packages, including Illustrator and PyMOL.
-Additional tasks and duties, as identified and assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
-Must be a registered graduate student at the University of Minnesota and hold the minimum credits required for a graduate assistantship
-Must demonstrate fast and accurate typing skills
-Experience with Google Suite applications, Microsoft Office applications, and University systems
-Must be able to maintain confidentiality and discretion
-Must be able to demonstrate ability to learn on the job

Preferred Qualifications
-Experience with PyMOL and Adobe Illustrator
-Experience with academic publications, including browsing and reviewing
-Basic understanding of biochemistry and/or biomolecular chemistry concepts and terminology
-Experience with Python coding language
