Job Overview:

The Metro RDTC is a state-designated Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center that provides medical and psychological treatment to victims of child abuse and neglect. The Metro RDTC covers Essex County and involves direct patient care and interfacing with other non-medical/medical agencies involved with child abuse. The Metro RDTC office is located in the Essex County Wynona s House Child Advocacy Center with occasional travel to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, a short car ride away.

Qualifications:

Required:

Certified Medical Assistant AAMA

Current BLS certification

Minimum 2-3 years experience in pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, and/or pediatric emergency medicine

Must be proficient in blood draws

Spanish language proficiency a plus

Preferred:

Essential Functions:

Assisting Child Abuse Pediatricians

Reviewing and scheduling new referrals

Maintaining annual inspection of medical equipment

Contacting DP&P caseworkers, Child Advocacy Center staff, and Essex County Prosecutor office staff

Liaison between CAC partners and medical providers

Coordinating follow up medicals

Collecting lab specimens and sending out lab work

Coordination of quality health care services

Managing Supplies

Phlebotomy

Performing basic assessment/nursing skills

Chart preparation

All other functions as assigned
