Minimum Qualifications
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary
The mechanic I will perform automotive service work such as oil changes, tire rotations, multi-point inspections and brake replacement. This will be the lead person for intake and assessment of the growing number of electric low speed vehicles. This will be the primary mechanic involved in the development and continuing operation of a quick lube program requested by UGA's fleet management working group.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Work safely in an automotive maintenance and repair operation
  • Understand principles of electric vehicle safety
  • Understand repair order workflow
  • Safe use of hand, pneumatic, and electric tools
  • Safe use of automotive lift equipment
  • Basic knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems
  • Knowledge of automotive operating principles
  • Knowledge of time keeping and work order management systems

Physical Demands

  • Stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop and squat routinely throughout the work day 8 hours/5 days a week.
  • Climb in and out of vehicles routinely throughout the work day.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. safely and unassisted.
  • Tolerate and perform work safely under various weather/climatic conditions such as cold, heat, rain, and snow.
  • Driving to perform job related duties.
