Position title:
Gastroenterology & Hepatology Research
Salary range:
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $86,500 - $400,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http://med.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is currently recruiting outstanding faculty for with an interest in academia in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology.

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is ranked number 1 in research and teaching among global universities, and ranked number 18 in clinical care by the US World News.

The division wishes to increase the number of faculty who conduct research in a broad array of Gastroenterology & Hepatology focused topic areas. Multiple opportunities for collaborative research in basic, translational, and clinical focused research will be available. Faculty are encouraged to get involved in various sub-sections within the division and engage in active learning and will be provided and expected to participate in divisional and departmental activities and demonstrate engagement.

The successful candidates will provide demonstrated excellence in the teaching of trainees and contribute to the maintenance of a collegial and collaborative academic environment.

The successful candidates will interact with a wide range of clinical, translational and/or basic science programs. Candidates may be expected to demonstrate and maintain a high quality, extramurally-funded research program.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, or PhD with an emphasis relevant to Gastroenterology.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with experience in program development and evaluation are preferred.

Candidates with an excellent record of research productivity and extramural grant funding are preferred.

Candidates with a proven research activity in areas related to health disparities, community-based participatory research, and/or older adult populations are preferred.
