About the Job

The School of Public Health occasionally needs to hire intermittent lecturers throughout the year to teach courses. This type of position is a temporary, non-tenured, Academic Professional and Administrative (P & A) position.

Starting pay is dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, internal equity and assignment of duties and is paid on a per course basis and may include extra payments for tasks like course material development/updates.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

  • Develop course materials such as syllabi, lectures, activities, handouts, exams, assignments, and other teaching materials (40%).
  • Deliver content and actively engage students in the classroom (40%).
  • Grade student materials, which can include exams, papers, and final projects, and submit final grades (10%).
  • Provide feedback to students and respond to student inquiries via email, phone, or through virtual or in person meetings (10%).
  • These effort percentages may be adjusted as needed.

This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur throughout the year. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis. Appointments are based on need, funding, and performance.

Qualifications

Required:

Degree expected of faculty in department or substantial professional recognition in the field is required. Professional and/or teaching experience related to assigned instructional responsibilities may be required.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $1750 - $3025 per credit; depending on candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, internal equity and assignment of duties and may include extra payments for tasks like course material development/updates.
