Overview

The Carrier Clinic Part Time (with benefits) Psychologist functions as a clinical psychologist under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, in accordance with the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct of the American Psychological Association, guidelines from the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners, and standards set forth by the joint Commission. In general, the Psychologist independently diagnoses and treats mental disorders and aspects of psychological adjustment. Specific to the behavioral health population served, the Psychologist performs those functions in the areas of functional assessment; intelligence quotient; cognitive status toward the goal of differential diagnostics; coordinated treatment and effective discharge planning. The specific scope of practice will be articulated in the delineation of privileges as issued in the process of appointment to the Medical Staff. Preferred Psychological testing experience

Responsibilities

1. Assumes the duties and responsibilities of a psychologist as prescribed by training and standards and delineated by the medical staff appointment. 2. Conducts diagnostic evaluations and demonstrates knowledge and skills in the use and interpretation of assessment tools and subsequent integration into the formulation of a diagnostic impression. 3. Performs specialized psychological evaluations of children and adults in referred cases. Inclusive, but not limited to the following: -Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV) - this measures the Full Scale IQ, along with various other cognitive abilities -Adaptive Behavior Assessment System (ABAS-3) - this measures adaptive functioning, which is helpful for diagnosis, treatment planning, and discharge planning -Beck Rating Scales - measures depression, anxiety, hopelessness, suicidal ideation, and obsessive compulsive disorders to help with diagnosis and treatment planning -Millon Inventories - measures personality features in patients to help with diagnosis and treatment planning -Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) - personality assessment to help with diagnosis and treatment planning -Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) - measures positive and negative syndromes of schizophrenia and psychoses to with diagnosis and to develop treatment plans -Hare Psychopathy Checklist (PCL-R) - assessment for psychopathy to help with diagnosis and treatment planning -Woodcock Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities (WJ-IV-COG) - this measures general cognitive abilities -Woodcock Johnson Tests of Achievement (WJ-IV-ACH) - this measures academic functioning. This is helpful in adults as well to determine if a learning issue is present that may affect functioning -Woodcock Johnson Test of Oral Language (WJ-IV-OL) - this measures expressive and receptive language 4. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment teams to provide effective, evidence-based psychological interventions. Works to support the incorporation of the testing outcomes into treatment plan and discharge plan. 5. Provides professional services in accordance with HUMC policy and procedures, the Joint Commission, the American Psychological Association (APA) and the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners. 6. Maintains records and documentation of patient contact according to relevant laws and policy. 7. Serves as resource and liaison to community and governmental agencies who seek medical and mental health information or services for victims of child maltreatment. 8. Participates in professional and community education conferences and seminars on related topics. 9. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs. 10. Lifts a minimum of 10 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hours a day. 11. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 12. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Earned Doctorate in Psychology, internship in clinical child, school psychology, adult clinical and/or pediatric psychology. 2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 3. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Post-doctoral training and/or experience in child maltreatment or forensic psychology. 2. Competence with performing psychological testing as indicated above. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. Psychologist License or Practicing Psychologist License.
