As a Mergers & Acquisitions Associate, you will join a team responsible for executing highly strategic acquisitions and investments to support the enterprise's overall mission. The role positions experienced, motivated professionals on dynamic, high-performing teams to develop critical thinking, sophisticated financial modeling, and extensive communication skills within a an exciting and fast-paced work environment. As a key member of our UHG M&A team, an associate will play an integral role in projects that have the potential to change the healthcare industry while gaining extensive experience as a contributing member of a team that manages a sophisticated underwriting process with the key executive leaders throughout our organization.

*This role is office based, 5 days a week out of our Minnetonka, MN office

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Preparing and assessing financial, qualitative and valuation analyses
  • Lead special initiatives for corporate senior executives
  • Key liaison to business segment senior leadership, transaction advisors and acquisition targets
  • Developing and coaching junior team members (training, coaching, and mentoring)
  • Defining and negotiating transaction terms
  • Leading and conducting due diligence on potential acquisition targets

Required Qualifications:



  • 2+ years of M&A experience with a Transaction Advisory Services group corporate development, investment banking or private equity firm
  • Experience developing financial forecasts and valuation models for the M&A target
  • Experience working in a team environment on a project basis with the mental agility to adapt and make progress in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Advanced MS Excel skills to synthesize and organize raw data into meaningful business insights
  • Solid understanding of core accounting and finance concepts to convert financial information into a working discounted cash flow model
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate a business to understand its business model, strategy and understand its key operational and financial performance drivers.
  • Travel and work schedule flexibility


Preferred Qualifications:



  • BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Math
  • CPA or CFA
  • 3+ years of M&A experience with a Transaction Advisory Services group, corporate development, investment banking or private equity firm
  • Experience working on multiple live acquisitions simultaneously across the entire deal lifecycle while signing and closing multiple transactions
  • Proben ability to effectively communicate to team members and business executives through actively participating in diligence and internal update calls
