Job Overview
The Respiratory Therapist (RT) provides family-centered care as demonstrated by recognizing the patient, family and/or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient's preferences, values, and needs. The RT assumes an active role in clinical education of patients, families, and staff; and functions as a role model within respiratory and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, teamwork, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.

Qualifications
Education: Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy/ Care is required at the time of hire. Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience delivering respiratory therapy/care. Certification(s):
- Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 90 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire, if working in Medical/Surgical and/or Emergency Department.
Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Respiratory Therapist license

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE * Neonate - <30 days * Infancy - >30 days to 1yr * Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs * Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs * School age - >5yrs to 13yrs * Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs * Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. 1. Assesses and evaluates unit delivery of patient and family centered care, incorporating the respiratory process while providing developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, evidence-based care within a defined clinic environment. 2. In an Ambulatory setting, performs all Respiratory diagnostics to include but not limited to Pulmonary Function Testing (spirometry, lung volumes, helium-dilution, DLCO), Bronchoprovocation-Exercise Induced and Methacholine Challenges), Impulse oscillometry, Bronchoscopy Assist, Respiratory Education/care coordination. 3. Role models and coach's patient and family care needs through assessing changes in patient outcomes/clinic needs in the provision of care, within scope of practice. 4. Identifies and works to removes barriers to promote communication and advocacy of patient values, preferences and expressed needs as part of implementation of care plan, evaluation of care and assessment of patient/family learning needs to the interdisciplinary team. 5. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate individualized care and education for patients/families. 6. Follows departmental or organizational practices and procedures that support effective teamwork. 7. Participates in safety and quality of care projects and disseminates and incorporates into team setting. 8. Minimizes risk of harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance. 9. Integrates best current evidence with clinical knowledge and patient/family preferences and values for delivery of optimal health care. 10. Identifies need for and/or participates in the development or revision of organizational or departmental policies, procedures or practice guidelines in comparison with evidence based clinical practice. 11. Communicates the standard of care practices from applicable professional organization and/or association. 12. Identifies gaps in best practice and participates in the implementation of unit, division, or organizational quality improvement; and participates with the interdisciplinary team to improve quality and safety outcomes. 13. Analyzes information and technology of patient, unit or organization outcomes to partner and foster communication, clinical decision making, error prevention, and care coordination. 14. Uses data to monitor the outcomes of care processes and use improvement methods to design and test changes to continuously improve the quality and safety of health care systems. 15. Maintains membership of a respiratory or professional healthcare organization as required to maintain credential. 16. Participates in education by precepting and educating orientees, students, peers.

Salary Information Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $59,514.35 to $89,271.53 Hourly Salary Range: $28.61 to $42.92
