Function:

Engineering and Engineering Services Job Summary:Provides engineering oversight to develop a safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly Blue Ammonia facility. Responsible for the rotating equipment design of the new operating site, while duplicating the performance of the reference plant in Donaldsonville and mechanical design to the extent feasible. Work should be completed independently utilizing internal and external resources to provide solutions meeting stakeholder needs and consistent with applicable engineering and general design practices. Major Responsibilities:

Project Development

  • Serve as a lead technical resource for rotating equipment
  • Lead efforts to ensure project practices and documentation deliverables will follow applicable regulations and standards
  • Review construction documentation prepared by outside engineering firms and vendors for compliance with project specifications, constructability, and operability. Must also be able to work with and solicit comments from other groups within the organization.
  • Review project plans and specifications to ensure an appropriate amount of surveillance for monitoring of engineering, fabrication, and construction activities
  • Continuously control changes to the original design and obtain management approval for any deviations.
  • Ensure third party engineering contractors work is compliant with code, will function correctly and reliably, is properly documented, and meets CF internal expectations
  • Ability to define the detailed project scope needed for execution of capital projects
  • Maintain open and ongoing communication with supervision and Engineering on status and progress of work on assigned projects.
  • Support the department's responsibility for maintaining up to date piping and instrumentation drawings
  • Travel globally as required to support project engineering, detailed design, and project execution, including rotating equipment fabrication surveillance, monitoring, and inspection
  • Review equipment spare parts lists (commissioning, capital, and two-year operating) to ensure suitable inventory and confirm compatibility with those from Donaldsonville

Operations

  • Oversee rotating equipment erection activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and API 686 (Recommended Practice for Machinery Installation and Installation Design)
  • Develop maintenance and rotating equipment mechanical integrity program for later facility operation
  • Provide process technical expertise, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support

EHS

  • Actively practice environmental, health, and safety activities associated with individualized job functions
  • Support the corporate EHS Policy and Programs by incorporating the applicable requirements into designs and continually evaluate ways to improve site safety
  • Participate in operability, PHA, and LOPA studies as requested
  • Continually evaluate ways to improve site safety
  • Good working knowledge of PSM and particularly Mechanical Integrity requirements as it relates to Rotating Equipment. (SIS, PM, PdM, Criticality, PSI, IOW's, SOP's)

Incumbent Attributes:

  • Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Years of experience: 5+ years' experience with large scale rotating equipment at CF, a comparable chemical manufacturing company or an appropriate engineering and technology services provider.
  • Solid working knowledge of rotating equipment codes such as but not limited to API 610, 611, 612, 613, 614, 617, 670, 671, and 692
  • Familiarity with project execution using API 686 guidelines
  • Ability to collect field data, enter process equipment for inspections, and otherwise work in an operating chemical facility environment
  • Ability and willingness to work alternative shifts/schedules to support 24 hour/7 days per week during process unit erection, commissioning, startups, shutdowns, upsets, equipment inspections, and turnarounds.
  • Knowledge of industrial codes and standards (API, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, State)
  • Willingness to relocate nearby the project site and travel globally as needed
  • Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)
  • Ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause
