Job Summary

Central Washington University is recruiting an Assistant Professor of ITM - Cybersecurity to join our Information Technology Management team in Ellensburg, Washington. This role is an important member of our team as they enhance the vision for the University. The role is a campus-based position, which means you get to see the lives you are impacting. We're offering a salary, depending on education and experience, from $90,000 - $100,000 annually plus the awesome CWU benefits.

The Role:

The Department of Information Technology Management (ITM) at Central Washington University, in Ellensburg, Washington, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of networking and cybersecurity, including Windows administration and security; Linux administration and security; digital forensics; and attack and defend scenarios. This position is located at the Ellensburg campus.

The Department is dedicated to preparing students to be visionary leaders who will revolutionize how organizations handle their most valuable assets: people, projects, and technology.

The Department serves students in technology management, administrative management; project management; data analytics; and cybersecurity, with a cross-specialization focus on sustainable IT practices. Tenure-track faculty are expected to engage in teaching, advising, research and service. The department provides instruction to students in multiple locations across the state of Washington, and via multiple course modalities including in-person, online, and competency-based learning.

The ideal candidate enjoys contributing to a department that values teaching excellence, student learning, innovative practice and inquiry, and service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. The person in this role will join a team dedicated to shaping the future of information technology management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD or related terminal degree (ABD candidates may be considered; however, the terminal degree must be completed within one year of start date).
  • Active, applied industry experience in cybersecurity, network management, and/or information technology.
  • Evidence of effective and student-focused in-class and/or online post-secondary teaching in networking, cybersecurity, or related disciplines.
  • Research, teaching, or service that demonstrates an ability to contribute to CWU's commitment to inclusion and diversity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification (CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CCNA, CCDP, CEH, CCSP, etc.).
  • University-level teaching experience.
  • Experience or interest in developing and teaching online courses.
  • Experience in curriculum development and improvement.
  • Experience in teaching graduate courses in information technology, cybersecurity, networking, and/or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated service to students and/or the information technology management profession.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with University faculty, students, and staff.
  • Demonstrated training in and/or experience in implementing anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion-related materials or pedagogical practices in credit-bearing courses, certificate programs, or professional development type trainings, workshops, or seminars.
  • Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into curriculum and classroom conversations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Annual Salary: $90,000 - $100,000, based on a full-time nine-month appointment
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Appointment: Full-Time, Tenure-Track, 9 Month Appointment. Additional Summer teaching may be available. Central Washington University is on the quarter system with appointments from mid-September through mid-June
