The Montefiore NP maintains standards of practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and Nursing's Social Policy Statement. The NP actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center.

Under the supervision of the PCVCU Medical Director, the CHAM Heart Center NP will conduct comprehensive assessments of pediatric patients admitted to the Pediatric Cardiovascular Care Unit, including physical examinations, diagnostic tests, and medical histories; develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, considering the unique needs and preferences of each patient and family; collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and social workers, to coordinate and facilitate the continuum of care for patients from admission to discharge, and participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and professional development activities to enhance clinical practice and contribute to the advancement of pediatric cardiac care.

Education, Training & Experience

Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program

Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of New York.

Board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) or Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC).

Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience in pediatric critical care nursing, with a focus on cardiac care preferred.

BLS and PALS certifications required; additional certifications such as CCRN or CPON are advantageous.

Additional education as required by specialty/patient care location.

Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.

Commitment to providing compassionate, family-centered care in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and adapt to changing patient needs and clinical situations.

Proficiency in using electronic health records and other healthcare technology systems.
