Job Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Missouri - Columbia is seeking a full-time tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor or Professor with our neuroscience research group. For this position, areas of focus include, though are not limited to, epilepsy and movement disorders. Also expected will be participation in basic science training for medical students and residents.

About MU Neurology:
MU Department of Neurology offers comprehensive and multidisciplinary care in areas such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, comprehensive cerebrovascular disease, neurological intensive critical care, and headache. In addition, we have expertise in various subspecialty areas, including pediatric neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuropathology, neuro-rehab, and multiple sclerosis.
We have a strong relationship with Neurosurgery and PM&R as part of our comprehensive Neurosciences Service Line. This includes three functional neurosurgeons and one pediatric neurosurgeon. Fully integrated epilepsy and movement disorders program continue in their growth and development.

  • Join a department of 30+ neurologists and neuroscientists
  • Opportunities to assist in the department's growth, the education of medical students, neurology residents, and neurology fellows, as well as research and scholarly activities.
  • If clinical faculty, call schedule:
    o Only if joining as a clinical Neurohospitalist, stroke, or ICU physician
    o Proportionate to the clinical FTE
  • All ranks available commensurate with experience

  • As the largest Neurologic Care Team in mid-Missouri, the department's facilities include:
    o A dedicated 28-bed Neurosciences Center with 6 bed EMU
    o 30-bed Neurosciences ICU
    o AANEM Lab Accreditation with Exemplary Status
    o Level IV Epilepsy program
    o Comprehensive Stroke Center
    o MDA/ALS clinics
    o An accredited Sleep Program
    o Outpatient infusion center
  • Our academic programs include a neurology residency program and the following six accredited neurology fellowship programs:
  • ACGME-Accredited Fellowship Programs
    o Clinical Neurophysiology
    o Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology (dual UCNS certification)
    o Sleep Medicine
    o Advanced Sleep Medicine
    o Vascular Neurology
    o Neuro Critical Care (dual UCNS certification)
  • In addition to clinical opportunities, the MU Center for Translational Neuroscience, NextGen Precision Health Building, and Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory offers a vast array of academic and research opportunities. Currently, there are established basic and translational research programs with 30+ clinical trials in Neurology.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Fellowship trained BC/BE MD/DO Or MD/Ph.D. Or Ph.D. Researcher

Candidates will be evaluated on: post-doctoral experience and qualifications in research. Have an outstanding research program and provide research training for undergraduate and graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in their expertise.
