The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria (UICOMP) seeks a candidate for the position of Division Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. This will be an academic appointment at the level of Associate/Professor of Clinical Pediatrics. The candidate must hold or be eligible for an Illinois physician license, hold MD/DO or equivalent degree and be BC/BE in Pediatric Infectious Diseases.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain effective education programs in Pediatric Infectious Disease for medical students and residents. Collaborate with other faculty in maintaining excellence in general pediatric education.
  • Stimulate and nurture scholarly activity within the Division and strengthen current research portfolio.
  • Expand clinical service program to meet regional needs.
  • Develop a vision for expansion and growth of current clinical services.
  • Provide leadership to support the faculty in the Division of Infectious Diseases to achieve excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
  • To sustain an existing supportive and collaborative environment for other subspecialists thus facilitating programs that care for high complexity patients.
  • To support quality improvement efforts and safety initiatives within the Division and Children's Hospital of Illinois.
  • Direct and conduct his/her own research in pediatric infectious diseases.
  • Provide care for patients with infectious diseases admitted to Children's Hospital of Illinois, consultation and support to other services and manage patients in ambulatory clinics.
  • Collaborate with other ancillary services to provide high quality, safe, and individualized patient, and family centered care.
  • Perform duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and administration.


Position Summary

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a pediatric Infectious Disease physician with a track record in healthcare leadership and program development for the position of Division Chief of Pediatric Infectious Disease.

Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Illinois
  • Board Certified in Pediatric Infectious Disease
  • Proven Track Record of professional leadership in academic medicine
  • Academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor
  • MD/DO or foreign equivalent
