The Division Supervisor supervises the divisional operations within the Department of Surgery.
The Division Supervisor provides coordination of policies and procedures in support of teaching, research and clinical programs.
The Division Supervisor is responsible for the daily business affairs, funds and resources of the Division. This position works under the direction and guidance of the Administrator, Associate Administrator, and the Divisional Chair.
The Division Supervisor represents the Division the School of Medicine, MCV Physicians and the VCU Health System to provide essential communication and networking for the effective functioning of these entities.

Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of three (3) years of administration work experience in the field of healthcare administration with financial/operations and supervisory responsibility or its equivalent through training, education and other related experience. Experience with Microsoft software, to include spreadsheets and databases
Experience PREFERRED: Previous experience with IDX, CERNER and VCU and VCUHS information systems Administrative and/or financial management work experience in an academic medical center
Education/training REQUIRED: Associate's Degree or Equivalent
Education/training PREFERRED: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or closely related field
Independent action(s) required: Financial oversight and policy compliance. Ability to manage funds effectively, from a variety of sources. Ability to communicate effectively in brief, focused and well-organized oral and written presentations. Ability to establish work priorities and provide follow through, to ensure completion of activities, both personally and in subordinates. Ability to plan and organize, implement and coordinate financial and administrative activities, as they apply to the complex workings of the Division(s).
Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Directly manages and supervises administrative and clerical employees assigned to the Division(s). Performs human resources functions, including supervision, hiring, evaluation and termination under the overall direction of the Administrator, who is the hiring authority for department personnel. Provides supervisory functions in multiple personnel systems, including VCU and MCVP.
Additional position requirements: May be required to work weekend and holidays.
