Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, the Cognitive Skills person will conduct diagnostic interviews, counseling/advisement, assist in the development of study skills strategies and provide individual consultation to all four years of medical school students. He/she will plan and implement a well-organized program designed to provide support services for students in need of academic counseling, test taking strategies, time management application and preparation for examinations as it pertains to the student's individualized plan. This individual will work with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs in identifying students at risk, serve as a liaison with other services (Student Mental Health), manage retention and reporting outcome driven data to demonstrate student success and progress.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
PhD degree in educational or cognitive psychology with specialization in learning and remediation.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience involving the review, analysis and evaluation of academic outcomes assessment is highly desired. Must possess leadership, coaching and team building skills to foster supportive working relationships with students, staff and administration. Must be able to problem solve and make decisions using strategic and analytical thinking skills. Previous experience working with adult learners required; experience in medical education preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) essential. Good knowledge of computer software programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 20 lbs.
