A new faculty Instructor position is available in the lab of Dr. Jennifer Mulle, MHS, PhD in the Department of Psychiatry, with lab space located at the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine ( CABM). The Instructor will lead studies of rare genetic variants associated with neurodevelopmental and psychiatric illness, using a variety of modalities to interrogate molecular and cellular consequences of copy number variants and single gene disorders.

Minimum Education and Experience
The successful candidate will have a PhD in genetics, molecular biology, neuroscience, or a related field, plus several years' experience in academic or industrial research labs. Experience with iPSC technology, neuronal derivation, electrophysiology, neuronal morphology assays, neuronal proliferation assays, mitochondrial assays, RNASeq, Western blotting, PCR, and cell culture are preferred.

Job Duties
1. Work with human cellular models and animal models, performing behavioral testing as well as biological interrogation of disease processes.
2. In consultation with the PI, design experiments with high rigor, using best practices, to answer questions about the longitudinal unfolding of diseases processes in the developing mammalian brain.
3. Assist with research compliance activities, including communications with funders (i.e. NIH), maintaining up-to-date research training and certification for the lab, IRB and IACUC applications, and other activities.
4. Manage communication with national and international collaborators.
5. Document research activities, maintain a database of up-to-date research protocols, and manage and organize large datasets that have been generated in the service of research projects. Develop SOPs for the lab. Maintain records of computational pipelines used to process and analyze large datasets.
6. Supervise undergraduates, technicians, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.
7. Publish results in peer-reviewed journals, present at national and international conferences, and contribute to the writing of grants.
8. Develop their own independent grant proposals, serving as PI or MPI. This is a highly collaborative research program, and the Instructor will aid the PI Dr. Mulle in facilitating communication across research teams.
