Job Description:

The Ceramics area of the Department of Art and Art History is looking to fill several positions to operate the lab after and in between class hours. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are our most critical days for work hours, the remainder of the week we will work with your schedule as much as possible. The job entails, monitoring the lab during your shift for health and safety issues, making and mixing slips and glazes, firing of both gas and electric kilns, and other duties as needed by the Faculty and Staff in the Ceramics area.


Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must be available to work weekends
  • Work study approved
  • Experience with UNM Ceramics Lab
  • Knowledge of glaze and mixing application methods
  • Basic knowledge of firing both electric and gas kilns
  • Inventory of glaze and glaze materials
  • Knowledge of shop safety procedures including wheel and kiln safety
