We are currently seeking a full-time non-tenure track (teaching) position as an Assistant Teaching Professor in Spanish and Modern Languages starting either January 1 or August 15, 2025 (depending on when the position is filled). The initial appointment will be for nine months, with the possibility of ongoing renewal and the opportunity for advancement on the non-tenure track. We are looking for a dedicated and collaborative colleague with demonstrated excellence in teaching following current methods for teaching languages and cultures. They will engage at all levels in the department and have an understanding of the needs of our diverse student population and our programs. As a dual Spanish and Modern Languages faculty member, the new hire will teach Spanish coursework at all levels and in different formats and sociolinguistics courses in English that support the Modern Language major and the alternate pathway to fulfilling the language requirement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Typically teach a 24 credit hour load per academic year (excluding summers). * Teach courses in all formats (in-person, blended/hybrid, and online) and at all levels. Teaching assignments may include Spanish language and culture courses and Introduction to Hispanic Linguistics, as well as courses taught in English, such as Languages and Identities, Languages and World Views, and Foreign Language Careers for the Global Market. * Use Canvas LMS to develop syllabi and assignments and manage gradebooks. * Advise Spanish majors and minors. * Participate in departmental and university-wide service activities. * Maintain a regular schedule of open office hours and hours by appointment. Physical Demands and Work Environment * Standing and sitting for teaching, class preparation, and meetings; speaking, listening, and interacting with students; occasional travel for faculty development. * You will be provided with an office, and desktop computer, internet access, campus email, and access to a printer. Requirements for the Position * Master's degree in Spanish; PhD preferred.
