Director Development, Health Equity and Community Engagement

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA),, the Director of Development (DOD) will serve as a key member of the OIA team focused on substantiating Jeffersonrsquo;s commitment to the community through the Jefferson Collaborative for Health Equity (the Collaborative) and other community-facing programs as a philanthropic campaign platform with internal and external stakeholders.

The DOD will be integral to the development of the strategic fundraising direction for Jeffersonrsquo;s many initiatives that address health equity and promote community engagement, leading efforts to raise the profile of these initiatives through individual outreach and cultivation. This individual is responsible for building and advancing strong personal and professional relationships with individuals that will result in philanthropic support. In close collaboration with the Leadership Team for the Jefferson Collaborative for Health Equity, EVP for Advancement, SVP OIA, and the AVP of Corporate and Foundation Relations, this individual will develop and implement the philanthropic outreach strategy including effective major gifts fundraising, raising the profile of Jeffersonrsquo;s community-facing programs, and program implementation. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of individual philanthropists interested in funding community and health equity programming in the greater Philadelphia area

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serves as lead fundraiser and primary liaison to the Collaborative within the Office of Institutional Advancement.
  • Qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a distinct portfolio of regional philanthropists and influencers in support of Jeffersonrsquo;s priorities in healthy equity and community engagement.
  • Develops and designs strategies, in partnership with MGOs, CFR, and independently, that effectively engage local, regional, and national partners.
  • Contributes to the design and implementation of the Collaborativersquo;s strategic plan with a focus on recognizing philanthropy as a key component of the execution strategy.
  • Collaborates with EVP, Chief Community Health Equity Officer; EVP, Diversity and Inclusion; VP for Community Engagement; and VP, Population Health on an ongoing basis to determine emerging needs.
  • In collaboration with relevant OIA and enterprise divisions, designs and disseminates relevant information about the Collaborative and Jeffersonrsquo;s activities in the community through events, reports, and individual meetings.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

Bachelorrsquo;s degree or equivalent level of professional experience required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5+ years of direct or related experience, preferably with experience in a health-related, human services, or educational institution. Community engagement experience is highly preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • A proven record of successful fundraising including identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation, preferably at the major ($25k+) and/or principal ($1 million+) gift level.
  • Fundraising experience in the areas of both individual major gifts and corporate and foundation giving is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills including strong writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with both internal and external constituencies
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work independently; handle a constantly changing heavy workflow while paying close attention to detail
  • Strong computer aptitude including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office in Windows environment: MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Access
  • Knowledge of Raiserrsquo;s Edge or similar CRM system strongly preferred
  • Willingness and ability to learn new software systems
  • Ability to articulate, both written and orally, a compelling case for major philanthropic support, presenting objectives persuasively to potential donors.
  • Possess the ability to work independently, as well as cohesively to work as a member of the team.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional night and weekend hours may be required.

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jeffersonrsquo;s clinical entities or at the University.
