This job communicates effectively with co-workers, patients, family, and visitors. Provides a safe work environment for the patient and performs all functions as delegated by the staff Registered Nurse, and/or via written protocol, as approved by the Medical Director or Staff MD.

Education

Required -Graduate from accredited paramedic program with a license to practice in the State of Louisiana

Work Experience

Required -4 yearscurrent paramedic field care experience

Preferred - Prior air medical transport experience

Certifications

Required -National Registry license to practice in the State of Mississippi
CPR Healthcare Provider Certification

Preferred - BCLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to and experience working with and maintaining confidential information.
  • Ability to and experience working in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties

  • Works collaboratively with and under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse to provide for the delivery of patient care through the use of the nursing process.
  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
  • Provides customer service to patients, families and staff.
  • Adapts to change in a positive, constructive manner.
  • Participates in activities for professional development and maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
