The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy is seeking a senior working professional with expertise and a primary position in grant writing or grantmaking. The successful candidate should possess a graduate degree and 7 years of experience in a related field. The ideal candidate will have experience in successful story telling and marketing, proposal writing, program evaluation in a nonprofit, corporate or foundation setting. The candidate will be able to teach graduate-level courses in grant writing, highlighting the skills needed to combine data with an effective narrative to make the case for support. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching or training experience.

Course Description: PPDE 646: Grant Writing Practicum

The purpose of this course is to prepare students to write grant proposals for nonprofit organizations and provide opportunities to practice grant writing skills. High-quality grant writing requires well-researched prospects, the ability to describe programs and goals with clear and measurable benefits to the community, well-articulated statements of need, and jargon-free writing. During the course, students will learn specific skills to strengthen these core elements of a written proposal, and then they will practice applying those skills to a case study organization. By the end of the class, students will have an opportunity research and write an analysis of an actual funding opportunity and create one full proposal.

Adjunct responsibilities include delivery of course content, scheduling office hours and being accessible to students as appropriate, and grading. Each instructor is expected to provide students with a syllabus outlining the course goals, schedule and all requirements for the course under the direction of the Department Chair.

The hourly rate range for this position is $29.06/hr. - $38.89/hr.
