Physician - Cardiothoracic Critical Care Intensivist - 100 Michigan Street, Grand Rapids, MI

Corewell Health Medical Group is seeking a Cardiothoracic Critical Care Physician to join the Heart & Vascular Institute. The ideal candidate skillset would encompass the perioperative care of adult cardiac surgical patients with exposure to heart and lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory and respiratory support, both temporary and long term.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • MCS program started in 2009 and has become one of the highest volume programs in the nation for ECMO
  • Richard DeVos Heart and Lung Transplant program started in 2010 and has completed 241 heart, 384 lung, and 535 durable LVADs to date
  • Largest open heart surgery program in Michigan with 1,600 open heart surgery procedures, 400 TAVRs, 120 ECMO/year
  • A 24/7/365 cardiogenic shock service which implements state of the art mechanical circulatory support for cardiac arrest and cardiogenic shock patients
  • A 36-bed cardiothoracic critical care unit
  • Established ACGME rotations through the CTCC from vascular and general surgery
  • Research supported through the Richard DeVos Cardiovascular Research program

  • Required Bachelor's DegreLIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
  • LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certified Cardiothoracic Critical Care Intensivist or Pulmonologist, CT Surgery, CT Anesthesia, General Anesthesia with critical care experience, Advanced Heart Failure cardiologist with experience critical care medicine
  • Experience/board certification in TTE and/or TEE
  • Experience in ECMO, VAD, heart and lung transplant patient management
