Job Description: Accounting Tax Manager

Location: Orlando, FL

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager - Tax to oversee all aspects of tax compliance and planning within our organization. This role demands a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead effectively. The Accounting Manager - Tax is crucial in minimizing tax liabilities while ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Tax Compliance: Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and filing of all required tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other relevant taxes.
  • Tax Planning: Develop and implement strategies to optimize the organization's tax position, addressing both short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and evaluate tax risks and opportunities, and create strategies to minimize exposures while ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Research and Analysis: Stay current on tax law changes, assess their impact on the organization, and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Financial Reporting: Work with the finance team to accurately reflect tax provisions in financial statements and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Audit Support: Assist external auditors and tax authorities during audits and inquiries, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with legal, finance, and operations departments to integrate tax considerations into business decisions and initiatives.
  • Tax Compliance Monitoring: Establish and maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure adherence to tax laws and regulations.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external tax consultants, advisors, and service providers, ensuring efficient service delivery.
  • Special Projects: Lead or participate in special tax projects such as mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and international expansion, providing tax expertise and support as needed.

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including federal, state, and local taxes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to business scenarios.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey tax concepts clearly to non-tax professionals.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience in developing and guiding a team of tax professionals.
  • Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems; experience with platforms such as SAP or Oracle preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality of sensitive tax information.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree (e.g., MST) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in tax compliance and planning, with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
