SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. LEAD ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (STARSHIP AVIONICS) The Starship electrical hardware development team produces highly integrated components with high reliability in challenging vehicle environments while driving overall avionics mass and cost to a minimum. Developing components in close proximity to vehicle integration and operations provides a tight feedback loop as we iteratively reduce vehicle mass, cost, and labor. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Rapidly develop high-reliability electronics for rockets and spacecraft
- Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, and test
- Create development and qualification testing campaigns and exercise designs to their limits
- Support hardware through production, integration, and flight
- Work with experts from other teams and departments to drive changes that make the system more efficient, manufacturable, and reliable. Challenge assumptions and build strong professional relationships
- Lead a team of electrical engineers designing PCBAs and owning the boxes/components they go into from cradle to grave
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline
- 3+ years of experience designing, building, or testing circuit boards or other electronics (research and extracurricular academic projects qualify)
- 1+ years of experience leading a team or technical project
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Breadth of experience across various electrical technical fields including RF, digital, analog, and video
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and/or servicing electrical power distribution systems and/or networks
- Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere
- Competence with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.)
- Writing software in Python or similar for analysis or data review
