Construction Inspector - Water Treatment Plant Construction
Location: Dearborn, MI
Job Summary
Fishbeck is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector/Resident Project Representative for a multi-year project in the Dearborn area. The primary duties of this position include construction observation of water treatment facilities and associated documentation. Applicants must be willing to work in an outdoor environment.
Primary Functions


  • Prepare daily reports detailing the status of the work.
  • Observe construction activities to ensure work is being constructed in accordance with the Contract Documents and approved shop drawings.
  • Assist Project Managers and engineers with constructability issues and Requests for Information.
  • Attend owner and construction progress meetings.
  • Attend manufacturer start-ups.


Minimum Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and sit as need on project sites. Ability to climb ladder. Ability to drive a motor vehicle to reach work sites. Ability to maneuver project sites with uneven terrain. Ability to read printed materials and view a computer screen. Capable of hearing and speech to communicate. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
Desired Education
Associates Degree or Equivalent Experience in Civil Engineering Technology/Construction
Desired Skills/Experience


  • 5+ years of previous experience performing construction observation for water/wastewater treatment facilities and/or water and wastewater utilities.
  • Experience/familiarity with the following types of work:

    • Vertical construction (buildings)
    • Cast-in-place concrete
    • Process equipment, piping, and valves
    • Mechanical/HVAC systems
    • Electrical and instrumentation systems
    • Underground pipe and conduit construction
    • Painting/coating systems


  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
