Job Summary:



The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a full time Assistant Professor to work as a neuro-ophthalmology specialist in our growing academic ophthalmology practice at The University of Colorado Eye Center (UCEC). The position will provide outpatient medical and surgical management of adult strabismus surgery and optic nerve sheath fenestrations at UCEC and affiliate sites of practice within the Denver metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Evaluate and treat outpatients with neuro-ophthalmologic conditions
  • Perform adult strabismus surgery and optic nerve sheath fenestrations
  • Collaborate with other ophthalmologic subspecialists in caring for patients with complex disorders.
  • Establish a bench research program in optic nerve disease
  • Collaborate with basic science researchers within ophthalmology and neurology
  • Instruct residents, fellows, and medical students in neuro-ophthalmology



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor



  • M.D. trained and PhD
  • Completed an approved residency program in ophthalmology including fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology
  • Must be board certified or eligible and have a Colorado medical license or be eligible


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Demonstrated track record of research and academic productivity within or related to neuro-ophthalmology


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of vitreoretinal disease is required.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of neuro-ophthalmology.
  • Demonstrated interest in resident teaching and basic or clinical applied research.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor

$180,000 to $300,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
